I recently was forced to go back through some images from the high school time of my life. It was a nice memory to a whole different time. While glancing at the still moments of elapsed time, I paused to inspect a photo from my graduation party -- of the memory table; where photos of my history were laid out for all to bear witness. What caught my attention was the propped up, 8x10" framed photograph of a young man decked out in jacket and tie. What does that image say about me?

I heard a story on NPR this past Friday about a boy called Ron. He was nine years old in 1959 South Carolina, which was still very segregated. Ron wanted to check out some books so he walked to the local library and attempted to do so. The librarian made it quite clear that Ron had the wrong color skin and would not be allowed to take out the books. The boy was clear in his intention and insisted. The white face behind the counter informed the young man he would have to leave or the Police would be called. Young Ron replied, "I'll wait".
